hello
never had a moggie before, its a 1969 2 door ,not the best, but its good to be working on, and i like driving it.
can you help with advice please.
with only 1 gallon in the tank it would not pull /pump fuel when starting to go up a hill and stopped .in time
back on the flat road it ran ok
i filled up with petrol then drove for 30 miles and it went well.
i am hoping for advice on how to stop this happening.
thankyou
no fuel going up hill

Keep the tank well filled ? Seems like the pick-up connection inside the tank is not reaching to the bottom of the tank. It's designed to leave some fuel behind - the idea being to leave any water/debris in the base of the tank.

Does the fuel pump tick rapidly when it stops on the hills?

thankyou ,bmcecosse ,mike.
i will from now on keep a min of 1/4 tank of petrol in car ,so as not to pick up debris.
and yes there was a clattering from pump when trying to start again,
i have now looked at pump filter that was clean, and ran emery cloth on points and reset them as per hand book.in time i will test
pump fuel flow into jar [for one min].
i am out for a drive into the hills on sunday to test things.
i will need a mot in november so can you recommend a tester near reading
thanks for your help

I see it's a nice new pump! I think probably just your tank was a bit too empty - keep it half full and you likely won't have any problems.

Re: no fuel going up hill
Is it also worth thinking about a small leak between the pump and the tank?
If a small amount of air is getting in the pump may be able to keep up with the demand, but as the car is facing up hill the car the pump has to pull the fuel higher up and i cant quite manage it??
