Tips for cleaning float chamber?

I have loads of brown sticky gunge in my float bowl. Any diy tips for dissolving it??

Sticky is unusual, silt that can just be rinsed out is more common.
An aerosol of carb cleaner should shift either.

Either leave well alone - or as above - carb cleaner! It's made for the job - and is actually very useful stuff for about 100 other jobs - including encouraging reluctant engines to start! It's mostly Toluene - highly flammable! :D

Don't forget the pipe that goes to the jet!
This is where the action happens (debatable), and is the lowest point in the carb.

I think it was sticky because it has been sat for 20+ years. The lifting pin and the needle were also stuck in place. I have solved it by soaking overnight in celly thinners. Thanks all.
