Listening to Last Word on Radio 4 today I heard of the death of Dr David Warren (19th July) who was the inventor of the "Black Box" flight recorder. Mention was made of his love of Morris Minors and the large collection of them that he built up. Any of you guys in Oz shed anymore light on this?

I didn't know about his Morris Minor collection but I do know about how hard a time he had getting anyone to take the 'Black Box' seriously. Thank god someone finally saw the light and they became standard fitment. Apparently he was inspired by the crash of a BOAC Comet in the very early jet years. Took 5 years before his device was in use.

Very sad to hear of his death.
One question- in Australian, what does "flat top" mean?? As opposed to Ute?? Ute is pickup, flat top??

Thanks Frosty, that's the way to go.
For those interested the radio program is 19mins and 10secs in on the BBC iPlayer here:-

Like Badobsession's pick-up truck - with the rear box removed and a 'flat top box' fitted. I've told them just to put me on the roof-rack on the Traveller.

Not following your own advice then Roy?
bmcecosse wrote:The Traveller roof and gutters are only thin aluminium. If the rack is just for 'show' - then fine. But don't expect it to carry any usefull load!
