Windscreen wahser

Hi guys,

To be precise (and honest...) I do not have a MM Minor but a pre-October '54 Series II... Anyway, since it shares so many features with MM's I reckon it's OK to post some questions here... hope your don't mind!

Here it goes:

1-Windscreen washer. To the best of my knowledge it was an optional extra. I fitted, what kind of system should it have been? A plain vacuum system or electric? And what kind of bottle? One of those plastic (with a Tudor sticker on it) or a glass (Trico, for instance)? And where should the bottle be located? What about the jet? Single or twin? Chrome or black?

Thanks,
Pedro

Windscreen washers were an MOT requirement and had to be fitted to all vehicles with a fixed windscreen, ie cars with opening or folding screens were excempt. Since they are an accessory, fitted in some cases many years after the construction of the car, there are no rules on type, position, jets etc., so it is entirely up to you what you fit.
You can copy the layout of the later Minors built after the legislation with a plasic bottle on the inner wing and a manual pump or try to find something more period.
I have gone for convenience by swapping the wiper switch for a light swtch, fitting an electric pump and a washer bottle to the engine bulkhead and wiring the wipers and washers to the new switch

Dear Mike,

I see the problem... that it is not a problem at all!
Thanks for your reply.
