Hello Dave,
There were a variety of styles, some with white plastic raised characters on a black plate, others were silver characters.
Then the character size was 3 1\2", later suffix plates had the character size at 3 1\8".
I have stamped aluminium plates on my cars but both are suffix plates. I don't remember if this method of manufacture was used in 1957?

A 57 would have had 3 1/2" plastic digits on a black ally plate with bevelled edges, originally. Use now which ever style you prefer

Has anyone got a recommendation for a suitable supplier who can press plates of the correct shape for the bootlid of a saloon?
