fuel spill, tramp bars

Hi Again!

I was following my morris home the other day, and i noticed that when the car turns right, at speed, it chucks out a load of fuel! Is this common? it splashed it over the rear light cluster and i thought thats not very safe!

Also i was considering anti tramp bars, as i often get a loud dong when i hit a bump, i have a ford rs200 axel, so would i need tramp bars for that? is there any welding involved in fitting?

Don't fill the tank so full! These tanks don't have anti-spill valves like modern cars. Tramp bars are to stop 'tramping' under acceleration - won't do anything for a 'noise' when hitting a bump. You need to see if the axle ahs/had any bump stops - and are they present -and working as they should!

Is there a cork gasket on the filler cap?
There shouldn't be enough space for a "load of fuel" to come out.

Is the load ding when the front or the rear wheel hit the bump?
Replacing the oil in the front shocks with something newer and thicker is highly recommended.

the tank was half full when i saw it comming out!

cant see any cork in there.

the ding is at the rear, and i have mini shocks, though i did see some slef sdjusting shocks at the mini run a few months back i liked the look of, they adjust to the height/weight of the car.

Mini dampers don't really have enough stroke length or capacity for a Minor! They are barely adequate on the much lighter Mini. They may be bottoming out -could be your noise. I wouldn't put any faith in 'self adjusting' dampers!

Agreed Roy unless its a bit of marketing as I suppose standard dampers are self adjusting dependant on load

Could say almost any hydraulic damper is 'self adjusting' - the relief valves open according to load imposed, to bypass the restrictor nozzles which limit the oil flow.
