Hi all
Thanks for all the very good info about VS.this side sorted out.
It looks like I have a miss matched gauge and sensor.
Does anyone have any info about sensor, resistance at working temp, and colour, mine is a smiths gauge and black topped sensor reading 70 ohms at 80c.
Thanks Win

Hi Win,
did you get any info about miss matching your temp guage and sensor? I think I have the same problem! Since fitting a temp guage, my engine seems to be running very hot, in fact off the scale. I have changed the sender unit, thermostat and fitted a recon rad so far. My next option was to replace the pump. Do you have any advice?
Many thanks
Bomber

Most (if not all ) temp gauges onl;y require 10 volts ie NOT direct feed from battery - are you running it from a voltage stabiliser?

Also read through this regarding mismatched gauges and sensors

It would also be advisable to measure the actual water temperature with a thermometer.

At a motor accessory shop. I fitted a TIM capillary gauge, not the best looking gauge but it does the job
