i went to have a look at a genuine police car tonite

my question is this
it has the blue roof police sign and the police signs on the door
can i drive the car with all the police signs on

No - you are supposed to cover them up on the highway.

Only on private land, we've always had removable signs and boxes for ours so we can drive them on the roads too!

No when on the way filming they are covered up some use magnetic roof Signs when you are at a show its obvious it not a real police car

the signs are magnatic and the roof sign is magnetic

so i cant drive it with the pokice signs on then

in that case i will give it a miss

Unless you join the Police Force ?

As a Morris Panda owner, I would highly recomend getting one. If I take my car to town or work or infact anywhere other than an event, I always cover up my lightbox and put a sock over my blue beacon. I have magnetic police signes that are taken off too.
As my car is used very often during the summer months and because it was based only 25miles from where it was stationed, I took it back to Cardiff and showed it to the Chief Supt. from there he could see that the car is NOT A THREAT to any body and have given me permission to use it on the public roads while travelling to/from special events. I also inform ALL police forces that I travel through and ask them for permission to do so.
South Wales police have said "If motorist see you coming up behind them and think that the local police forces are using these vehicles again" they must be out of their minds and shouldn't be on the roads.
I have noticed that when I am driving the Morris, drivers take a second look and I have seen on countless times drivers drop their mobile phones they were using and also slip on their seat belts. So although I am not in any way a serving police officer, I am helping other motorist not break the law.
I am a member of two classic police car clubs that state that the using police signes and not covering up lights ect. is forbidden and against the law.
I wave to almost every police officer I meet while out in my car and on occasions they do stop me it's to have a chat and look over my car.
So my advise is if you see a Morris Panda for sale. buy one and HAVE FUN!!!!

Aye, when I was taking the Minor dressed-as-a-police car to Pride, the Met were quite happy for me to drive it in their area with the faux lightbox & decals on, and just said 'contact all the other forces you'll be driving through, as they may not be amused otherwise' (that's almost verbaitim).
