A new foray into Minor ownership. Two convertibles and three saloons after the bug started (again) I have taken the plunge and bought a Traveller - advertised on here not too long ago!
Horace has been dry stored since 1977 and has excellent wood but needs attention to sills and chassis leg. The best bit was getting him home in the dry on a beatiful summers day. Goodness knows how much of a setback it would have been if the very bare wood got wet after 33 years in a dry garage!
He's clipper blue so a little bit unusual. Obviously recommissioning him will take a bit of work too but that's all part of the fun. T-cut and Plus Gas on bulk order!

Got my hands full trying to sell the house right now.

Here is the introductory 'to do list'
1. Professional assesment of the underside to see how much I'm going to have to spend. (Any volunteers? )
2. Clean up 30 years of dust and grime
3. Sand and treat the wood
4. Examine and free up suspected seized engine

Progress report
Wood: Sanded down some of one side and varnish has come away nicely without too much effort. Noticed some fungal blotches in places and tried lemon juice from a bottle without much luck. Will try the real thing when i've been shopping.
Condition of the timbers is excellent. The midrail on one side is missing 1/4 inch of the facing edge at one end but nothing a bit of sawdust and resin glue wouldn't fix. The rest is rock hard.
Interior: Carpets have been binned. Original Leyland seatbelts will be removed and offered for sale.
Metalwork: floor inside car has been scrubbed with steel brush and come up well. Slight delamination in small area above crossmember. surface rust over 10% of floor where paint has lifted.
Paintwork: Put T-cut on areas of roof and bonnet and they have come up a treat. Should be the same elsewhere with the exception of the front wings (of which I have replacements) and rear wing lip which is rusty.
Mechanical: No resistance in brake system. I will assume that after 33 years idle the master cylinder is kaput. The whole system will be replaced.
Engine freed up with very little effort from starting handle.
Note to self [must stop finding things to do].

It'd be good if you get a nice big garage with it!, lots of lovely space to do all of those jobs and not have to clear everying away at the end of each job as youre not open to the elements....now if I had that I think I would start Benny's wood replacement jobs .

Yes good luck with the move,I am in the process of househunting .The estate agents can`t seem to understand why I would need a garage that you can actually get a car in They keep sending details of houses that either don`t have a garage ,or if you manage to drive a car in,you would have to climb out of the sun roof,which my pick up doesn`t have. (rant over)
