cars which have bumpers without over-riders

my first traveller had a front bumper like this (1971 on a j plate) and i'd like my second one to have the same.
why were/ weren't bumpers fitted with over-riders from the factory? i'm assuming it's a trim option/ model thing, although as far as i was aware there was fairly little in the way of options available on minors.....

Over-riders onloy fitted to delux models as standard though many have been retro fitted.....

I wish mine wasn't - I think they look much 'cleaner' without! But of course the bumper is marked now - so removal not really practical.

Overriders are very useful for securing dog leads!
As are wing mirrors and traveller fuel filler pipes

Cockapoo actually. No trouble finding him most of the day, he was underneath cars in the shade, covered in sump oil.
I was tempted to see if he could line dance
