Mains tend to 'rumble' - suggesting a deepish noise, with some vibration. I suggest you retard the ignition timing slightly - to make sure your noise is not just 'pinking'. And of course - an oil pressure reading will tell all.

My oil pressure settles down to a healthy 30 psi running with the oil pressure light coming on at 15-20 psi and the engine sounds like a bag of old nails, but my Traveller made it from Reading to Harewood and back at 60-65 mph and sounded just the same after the trip.

Oil pressure light should come on at ~ 7 psi, so I suspect your gauge is reading high! It should be showing 60 psi at any decent revs - 70 psi at 70 mph if (like me) you have packed the relief valve slightly.

Is that with 20W50 oil ? You may want to invest in an oil cooler. Worth fitting a 74 degree thermostat for the summer - so the engine runs that little bit cooler.

Actually AlMcLs initial question was spot on, someone needs to listen to the noise to diagnose it.
Where is his nearest branch, they should be able to help.
Trying to diagnose a sound you haven't heard is always going to be tricky to put it mildly.
Maybe he could record a video and put it on you tube then we will have something to go on.
