948cc until '63?

I've just bought a 1963 4-door Minor (hooray! :D ) and it has a 948cc engine, but when I tried to get an online quote for insurance the pull-down menu options state that 948cc engines were only fitted up until '62. Is the insurance website wrong or is it likely that my Minor was manufactured in '62 but registered in '63? The DVLA site states correctly that a 948cc engine is fitted.

Sept 62 was the "production" change point but quite likely it was around in the showrooms before registration. Shouldn't make any difference to insurance anyway but you will need to class it as a 62 car for that purpose...

Any old 948 cars still in showrooms would be quite hard to 'shift' on the announcement of the facelift model with the much better spec. So - could have had to lie for quite a while until the Dealer realised a good discount would help it on it's way!

That must be it then, as it was registered March '63. I was pleasantly surprised at how smoothly the engine runs compared to a 1098cc, and I'm sure it's a little quieter.

Very much a smoother engine than the 1098 and no reason why it can't be made to produce much more power either
