I am thinking of getting a modern for work, we want to keep Geraldine and are hoping to use a friends garage. I have looked up a list of things to do when laying up a car but just wondered if there are any special tips for Minors.Or if I keep her on the road how often would I have to drive her to keep things ticking over?

Depends how long you are laying it up for... if over winter for example, I would consider putting it on axle stands, this will let the tyres rest and not damage them if they lose all their air. Also put fresh antifreeze in.. you don't want it freezing if we have a cold winter (this is normal practice anyway), do not use the handbrake (leave it off) and grease the cable up, disconnect the battery and keep it charged up (this will make it last longer unless you don't mind replacing them). Depending on how long it'll be laid off for you don't want the brakes seizing on, so knock them off a notch but I would consider avoiding this incase you forget to adjust them up again and zoom off in a hurry to that all important rally.

Depends entirely on how long for -and if the garage is warm/dry attached to the house - or damp/cold away from house....... If for long long time - best to squirt oil down the bores and turn the engine over on the handle a few times, and replace the plugs loosely (but leave a note on the steering wheel!) - then put oil soaked rag up the exhaust pipe - and another in the carb inlet. Lift car off tyres - remove battery to indoor storage - and either rig a solar charger - or give it a wee charge now and again. Antifreeze of course - handbrake OFF - and perhaps consider wedging the clutch pedal down if cold/damp garage. Expect the brakes to seize up anyway. Windows perhaps 1/8" open - just a crack - and make sure nothing edible is left in the car - no bags of sweets/bars of choc/packets of biscuits.......... But honestly - if you don't see yourself using the car at least in the summer months - may be better to just sell it........
