Air Filter and gearstick

Just wondered if I would be able to use the long cylinder air filter from the 803 cc engine I have removed from the car and use it with the 1098cc engine that i,m putting in the car. Will there be any problems ? Just like the look of the cylinder air filter opposed to the cone shaped one which I also have.

Whats the best way to get the long gearstick from the 803 gearbox to fit the 1098 gearbox cheers. :D

You can probably use it if you must - just have to enlarge/modify the flanges where it attaches to the carb - assuming you will be using the 1098 carb ? It may limit top end power slightly - best try it and see. There sia a way to fit the complete back section of an 803 to a 1098 box - but i believe it needs a bit of machining/filing etc to get it to fit. Lad called 'callyspoy' on the forum is the expert on this !

John Evans does an 803/1098 conversion box, using the gear lever off an 803 on the 1098 box. You would also need the smaller 803 cover plate and rebuild the floor which was covered by the 1098 cover plate

I was assuming it is an 803 car - being treated to a 1098 engine and box! Ask cally - because his modifications didn't sound difficult - and certainly didn't cost anything!

Yes it is a 803 car being treated to a 1098 engine, gearbox and rear axle with 8" drums all round. I just like the longer gearstick but noticed the fitment was different. I never looked at the hole sizes on the 803 filter and 1098 carb. But thanks for that mention.

I really don't think it is at all difficult to DIY - ask callyspoy! He did it without any fancy tools or machining I believe.
