Two questions in one!

I'm looking at a little rust fighting over the weekend, and, obviously, I will need to respray certain parts after surface rust and bubble removal... I don't know what colour paint she needs!
Her interior is black, and the stripe down the side was originally red, outside I just call her "white". Would I need Old English or Snowberry to spray her?

My other question was the viability of spraying/coating the underside with her old engine oil left over from the oil change. A few local mechanics have suggested this... opinions?

I think it's a bad idea for two reasons: used engine oil is horrible dirty carcinogenic stuff that you don't really want to get all over you whenever you work underneath; and it has a tendency to wash off in wet weather, coating the road with a slippy oil slick that is dangerous to other road users. Waxoyl works better (doesn't wash off as easily) and is pretty cheap. Dinitrol and Dynax S50 are better still but more expensive.

Yes it is a bit messy when you have to work underneath but is very effective at keeping the dreaded rot at bay

Old english white cars had red interiors and as your car was registered in Feb 1970 it should be snowberry white, although it's possible that a different shade may have been used on your car in the past. The best way to get a good colour match would be to take a sample of the existing paint to somewhere that mixes paint to order.

I'll look into Waxoyl, see if I can afford it - we do have a LOT of old engine oil lying around, and I don't mind getting in a mess!
