1968 disc brake conversion ..

if i convert to front discs what bits and pieces do i need?

is it non-destructive and can it all be bolted on?

what do i need to get together for bolt ons?

You will need a disc kit from one of the Minor suppliers/specialists. (research the market well before purchasing) these kits will supply you with all you need except for a header tank, optional servo and modified master cylinder.
Kits are all bolt on/off

The easiest way is to buy a complete kit. Some are better than others the JLH ones come particularly recommended. I fitted the kit available from Bull Motif and others but if I had the choice again it would be JLH more expensive but you get what you pay for. The BM kit has some issues regarding the wheel rubbing on the caliper (needs a spacer)

same i have esm's kit and they didnt supply a spacer so i had to grind a slight bit of metal off the calpier

The BM version of the same kit didnt either I bought one from Minispares - didnt fancy grinding bits off the caliper cos imagine trying to exchange them for new ones a few years down the line - dont think so.

Unless you are planning on doing some very fast driving - with an uprated engine to push you along - just stick with the brakes you have - put them into tip-top condition and they are plenty adequate for any sane road use. Fitting disc brakes is not a 'bolt-on' job - and remember the master cylinder needs modification - and probably a remote reservoir required - and then the brake swill be too heavy so you will want a servo............... There is an easy bolt-on way to get much better brakes............ :P

Jonathon these Bull Motif links never work for some inapparent reason. Actually they list 3 - MOD201, 201A and 201B

xpress I recommend you DONT buy the cheap one thats the one I've got (and it will end up on flea bay finances permitted). Also you will indeed need a servo and remote brake fluid reservour. Do not be tempted into buying a cheap pattern brake servo they are sold by many a Minor parts supplier and are a complete and utter heap of junk buy genuine brake parts - the're the only thing between you and the ditch

Someone recently had a thread using Ford discs and calipers - and home-made brackets. The discs just fitted over the Minor hub as far as I could see. Looked good on the car ! But I find myself braking so little these days - I wonder if my big W brakes are wasted on me..........and I certainly have no need of discs!

If you are going to Bull Motif I would recommend this one Bull Motif are an excellent company and if they advise one product over another - take their advice

This is the kit I've got but I wouldnt recommend it - it works but there are better

i hopefully dont wana be swapping them just gona keep them in tip top condition :D

The 'good' Bull M kit appears to be supplied by JLH - looking at the pictures ??? Maybe the price will be better going directly to JLH ? I would certainly enquire before buying !
