Re: twin carbs
single large carb is better , certainly as good as twins and is the better route with a large single

Re: twin carbs
i suggest you get a copy of this book and read it before gong down the twin carb route or doing any engine mods..

the most important thing ( if i recall correctly ) is the manifold and this is where, if any, advantage in running twin carbs come from. but not having read the book for about 20 years my memory could be playing tricks on me

Re: twin carbs
get the book by Vizard, and it will tell you all you need to know. from what i have heard you are better off getting a large, single SU on a really good manifold. webbers are are great for out and out performance, but are expensive to buy and run- SUs are reasonably priced, and offer good performance with relatively good economy.
get the vizard book- mine cost eight quid, and i will be using as i get older (and my insurance hopefully goes down)

Re: twin carbs
Yes indeed - the 'split webers' are nice - but very very very expensive! Avoid 'twin Nikkis' like the plague!!!!!!! If you really want twin carbs - don't mess about with anything smaller than twin 1.5" SUs - on a GOOD manifold ie one with no bypass pipe! For a standard(ish) engine - just run a single HIF 44 - it's good for 100/110 bhp. If you want more then go for 2 X HIF 44 on good manifold...........
