brake pipe end fittings

what thread is the brake pipe fitting then goes into the side of the master cylinder?

Probably 3/8" BSF.

i am presuming it would be stupid to ask if there was another size that would fit, as that size i quite hard to find (for me that is)

Yes - it is 'not common' - and ONLY that size will fit!
