why has no one invented/modified these for a moggy? would be fantastic to stop stone chips on the front of the rear wings.

If you are that bothered - just fit mudflaps behind the front wheels.............

These stone guards used to be made, I had some on a car many years ago. The stones always seemed to miss them and hit the paint. Front mudflaps work a lot better.

There is a good reason no-one makes those for the Minor. They can actually trap moisture and mud and accelerate the rusting process!!!!

I shot this last summer in the south of France. It's an old Peugeot with suicide front doors. The bodywork is in surprisingly good condition but the interior was shredded to pieces. It had obviously led a pretty hard life and had been left to live out it's days in front of the small car mechanic's who owns the buildings in the background. You can see the chip guards on the rear wings and they look pretty good imo.

i do think they are a good idea, saves the paint and if the pain below is in good nick, it shouldnt rust. saying that, it probably would rust through eventually.

I had some on my 4-door. They were cast aluminium IIRC

Can be seen in the pic if you look close. Much prettier than mudflaps of course.

very bad idea to fit a plastic or metal panel to the wings where there is a gap that can trap moisture and cause rust to rot the panel unseen. We have this problem with the Porsche 944.

A good idea is to fit stick on clear plastic stone guards that stick directly to the paint area as an invisible plastic sheet.

Not really necessary on the Minor though as the Minor does not suffer as much from stone chips like modern cars do.

My 1951 Beetle was fitted with these from new, and there is no rust underneath, the paint work underneath is perfect. If they are fitted correctly they will not rust.

You can just see one of them in this pic...
