hey all, how do you work out what the diff ratio is???
i know your supposed to count the teeth on the crown and pinion but what do you do with the numbers???

Cheers!!!

If it is, say, 9 Vs 41 then divide 41 by 9 to get the figure (say, 4.55, 4.22, 3.9, 3.727 etc) and this gives you the ratio. Either count the teeth or look at the top of the diff casing, just in front of the flange, on the left(?) and you will see the numbers stamped into the casing in large size.

If it hasn't got a button on my calculator, I don't want to know :-?
I think I can still manage the polar -rectangular co ordinate conversions, might struggle a bit with spherical trigonometry.

spherical trigonometry!! easy peazy. used to use it regularly to work out great circle sailing routes, distances and courses. easy when you know how.

as for the diff, not the foggiest, i dont know what my ratio is, so i am whipping out the halfshafts and the diff to hope and pray to Alec Issigonis that the ratio has be stamped on the rim of the diff.
