I fitted the Birmingham MMC gas strut to the boot of my Series MM. It was easy to fit as the top bolted onto one of the hinge bolts and the bottom bolted on to the hole where the boot stay fits. I found it very useful for a while as it saved messing around with the manual propping boot stay - until the hinge broke! I was not best pleased as it was a good condition early hinge. Consequently I now have one good condition hinge and one with corroded chrome.
Anyone want to buy a boot gas strut????????????

I found some that fit mine, in place of the ratchet strut, after a walk around a wrecker with a measuring tape. I mounted it where the strut was and it has worked well for the last 4 years. It was off some sort of early Citroen hatchback.[frame]Image[/frame]
I did have one on each side but it was way too powerful.

The Traveller rear door gas struts work well, the doors no longer blow shut in the wind or when the car is pointing downhill.
