Firstly ,Congratulations Ray! I know how you feel about time. Everything is speeding up, whether it's days becoming weeks, weeks becoming months and so on. I happened to meet someone yesterday who I thought I hadn't seen for a year or so. After chatting for a while she mentioned her two daughters and the new house etc etc. It was a shock to be told we last met in 2006. :o That really made me stop and think about all those little jobs, trips etc that I keep putting off until "Whenever". :D :D (As a footnote, the daughters aren't mine !!) :D

Went to collect my daughter (& all her gear) from University on Tuesday. She's probably a bit miffed that most people didn't realise she's been gone three years! How time flies. The fridge will never be full again

It's not just me then!!

I think up to 25 is pretty slow, then from 25 to 30 it picks up and so on. After 40 it's frighteningly fast. I wish life was like a video, where you could replay it.

I remember when my late grandfather hit 90, I asked him “What’s 90 years like?” He answered, in an instant, “Not long when you look back on it”. That was 18 years ago and it doesn’t seem long at all. I have never forgotten what he said and I can believe what he said.

Some of the younger posters may say that when I say I never look forward to things (Well at least not too eagerly), I’m being a killjoy. I would point out that time passes fast enough without wishing it away.

There is a theory, which says that all living things (Not plants!) have the roughly same number of heartbeats in a full lifetime. Clearly a fly has a very fast pulse and this affects perception of time, so that a day in the life of a fly feels like many decades feel to us (This is why flies are hard to catch). I suppose with getting older, each passing year represents a smaller fraction of your life and so seems less.

I was 20 on Sunday and I already think the time is flying, can't believe I've been out of school for two years already. I do wish time would hurry up a bit right now though, you'd think the military would be organised...

Reminds me of this,
A Heart is only good for so many beats, exercise increases your heart rate so uses up your beats quicker, thus shortening your life.

I have been there and done that. Both my daughters have now left home. My home feels quiet for the moment. I deeply miss them. I am suer that the sound of little feet will not be far off. And our fridge will be over worked again.

There is a very good reason for this. Your perception of time is based on your life. Each successive year is a lesser proportion of your life. On your 5th birthday the past year was 20% of your life so it seemed like a long time. On your 50th birthday it was only 2% so it seemed to pass in the blink of an eye.

Indeed the years do seem to pass by faster than I would like them to, I wish I could have stayed 21 lol.
