Hi, my moggie has developed an interesting fault today. If I indicate left, the indicators flash normally but the light on the stalk stays off. If I indicate right, the indicators don't flash at all and the light on the stalk stays on :o Please could anyone give me a clue as to where to start looking? Many thanks, Ian

Hmmmm - some mix up with the wiring or with the flasher can methinks. To test the basics - remove the flasher unit - and join the two main wires together. Now try left and right - do the lights come on (obviously not flashing!) front and rear as expected ?

Thanks for your quick reply :D . No, the indicators are the same (one on, one off) only not flashing

Have you checked all of the bulbs, particularly the right hand indicator? My car has done some similar 'odd' things in the past when a bulb has blown so that might be your problem.

Thanks Louise, the bulbs are ok and I can't see any breaks in the wiring - which is about the limit of my ability to be honest

Hmmmm - well - points to problems in the switch then I think.

Oh good - it's one of those rare ones that has the horn on the end. Hope it can be solved with a soldering iron

i was having a simular problem with my car when putting it back on the road, the sliding contacts had got all gunked up over the years and werent making a good enough contact, i checked this by by-passing the switch. you have a differnet type of indicator but i guess there all simular :S on the back of the switch assembly there should be three contacts and three wires, the middle is common, the left is left indicator and the right is right indicator, by running a wire between the common connection and the right indicator contact you by pass the switch and it should "indicate" a faulty switch connectior on the right hand side and vice versa!
there shouldnt be any need for the soldering iron, i cleaned the contacts with lashings of WD40, vinegar and cotton wool buds!
