Hi
I am a New Member, and New owner of a 1968 Covertable, converted from a saloon. I am trying to buy a Hood Cover for it. Do I need the rail, and anyone know were to buy a desent one, with out getting ripped off. I live in the Midlands.
Any advice welcome.
Question: what would you say is the most important part to check when buying a Morris minor Convertable, that was a Saloon.

Hi midnat i,m a proud owner of an original tour but would,nt have thought twice about buying a two door convert.now down to your question,the may/june issue of minor matters the club,s bi,monthly magazine touchs on this subject a little so it would be worth your while trying to get hold of one,as for the "rail" i,m assuming your refuring to the front wooden header rail in that case yes,it comes in two parts and ESM sell them at £45 each but its not a job for the faint hearted hope this helps regards budgie

Thanks for the reply.

I have been told they fit like this
( back of hood cover screws with LTD fasteners to back wooden rail. The cover then flops over the frame and attaches with some more LTD in the middle beneath the frame to secure it. 2 further flaps either side wrap around the side frame sticks and button to themselves to hold/ cover the frame securely.)

If anyone as Photos, or Drawing, or a diagram, would make a lot more sence.

I've now locked these so that all responses get posted in the same place - this thread - to avoid further confusion!

Can not understand why members with a convertable moggy, who have the hood cover, can not help out please.
would like a photo if possible of the hood cover going into the hood bag, also showing how the bag is fitted.

Sorry that i am not able to post pics on the forum as like many i am not up to speed when it comes to using a computer i tried my best to explain in words but i realize that in some circumstances pictures can paint a thousand words but as yet i cannot paint on a pc but i am trying sorry to see that your selling your tourer, thats if it is yours on car and classic .co.uk regards budgie [mike].

you,ll have to bare with me as i said i,m not pc literate not even up to speed on the jargon /computer speak just havn,t got the interest but i,ll have to try as i want to put some pics of my car on the forum only got photos on my camera so far i,ll have to enlist the help of my daughters regards budgie [mike].

Here are two photos how I fit the hoodbag. It's not standard but the strap (tree tie form garden centre) stops the frame rattling or the hoodbag blowing off and the foam rubber on the window frame prevents scratching the paint.

Thank you for reply, and photos. Were did you get the hood cover, or did you have it made?
Just a quick question, I was told, I do not have to wear my seat belts that are fitted in my 1968 moggy. Would that be correct?

No, that is not true. You have to wear (front) belts in a vehicle of that age......

I thought the law was you had to wear the seat belt front / rear regardless of age if they were fitted.. any why would you not want to wear your seat belt..

Re: Seat belts. I do wear them. It was just that I was told that you do not have to. I just wanted to clarify what the law stated.

Paul,
The hoodbag came with the car and looks fairly new. The previous owner never used it. I don't know where it came from but it could have been ESM as they sent me one by accident when they got an order mixed up and it looked very similar. They are quite pricey!
