In a local classified ad someone has advertised a 1959 Morris Minor for sale with working trafficators, and he said it is one of the last with the "push button start"
NOT! (Pull switch I said to him)
I let him dig a hole for himself and then told him I had a 1960 saloon with the pull start.and I previously owned a 62 saloon with pullstart also.
He said he used to own a "Morris Estate" to which I replied you mean a Traveller.
Dont think he knows much about Morris Minors and is trying to bluff his way, although the car is cheap so I might have a look.
Did minors ever come with a "modern" key start
Cheers Mark

The later cars did indeed have a key start. I believe this was introduced in '64 along with the metal speedo surround, and built in windscreen washers (but i stand to be corrected)

I believe the early 1098s had a pull start until the '64? restyle. The last of the Travellers/LCVs had steering column ignition switches.

You're right. The pull start was replaced by a key start in October 1964 during the last major interior trim update.

I had a lend of a 1960 4 door and that had a pull start. My Traveller has a column key and ofcourse the
starting handle
. Apart from being useful for servicing, it has got me out of trouble when the solenoid packed up (Button under the bonnet didn't work either) and the spare one was at home (Not like the Passat that broke down and couldn't be moved because the handbrake wouldn't release because the engine wouldn't start.....and it couldn't be moved because the handbrake was stuck on and wouldn't release.......and so on and so on

)!!!
