Engine Code A2H8 - that means?

Hi,

i got an engine here, the engine code says A2H8. Can someone decode that for me?

Means nothing - recon engine of some type!

duh. how can I identify which kind of engine (948 or 1098) it is?

There should be a plate on the block on the manifold side, the 1098 has a heavy steel backplate and the tappet chest covers slope inwards to the central bolts. The 948 has a thinner backplate, curved over at the edge and the tappet chest covers point outwards to the central bolt.

948 engines also have "950" cast into the block beneath the tappet chest - I usually find that is a dead giveaway :lol:

Indeed, the 1098cc engine "usaully" has an aluminium plate marked "1100" riveted to the block too. Another giveaway I feel :lol:
