Seat straps

Last summer as I was the passenger in my woman's Moggy the seat straps snapped. All of a sudden the seat looked pretty much like a toilet. I replaced the broken straps with some leather straps I found at home but it didn't work out quite as well as I had hoped for. What would you use to make the seat firm and comfortable again?

currently im running on old bike inner tubes, through the metal clips from the original, and i have to say i cant tell the difference atall! took me all of about 10mins work and five mins of that was adjusting wing mirrors 'cause i was now sitting about 3 inches higher!

BTW if the base straps are worn out the ones in the back probably are too. Replacing the straps in the seat back made a huge difference to the comfort on long journeys for me.

Thanks for the quick replies. Bike inner tubes - that sounds like an excellent plan B. It's amazing to see that just about any part you need for an old British vehicle can be bought brand new (I am currently bringing an old Ferguson tractor back to life - my mailman is bringing me lots of new parts this month). Naturally I'll get a set of new original style straps for the Moggy. I would prefer to find a seller that accepts Paypal payments since I don't want my credit card numbers bouncing around on the internet. I tried finding such a seller today but couldn't find one. Any suggestions? I really want the passenger seat to be comfortable since I am planning to spend some time there this summer

I'd suggest either doubling up or only replacing the lower straps on the back of the seat so there is some lumber support.
A bit of shaped foam might do the trick, if there is room for it.
