Hi there. After having to buy a new distributor cap I realised that all the parts shops list the 'side entry' caps as for 948 engines however my (apparently) original 1098 engine has the side entry and not the top entry one. Which should I have and does it make a difference?
Thanks
Steve

Makes no difference other than you will need different leads. 948's and early 1098's had side entry - All later cars had top entry.

OK thanks! There anyway to tell if newer leads will make a difference?

Depends what type (copper or carbon) and how old they are.
A handy trick is to take a look at the running engine in the dark.
If you see any sparks escaping the leads need replacing.
