I was just checking the points etc when I spotted a thumbwheel under the distributor - obviously I had to see if it would move...
I think it may be the vacuum advance - how do I set this up as I'm not sure if I put it back in the same place...
Also, I cannot drive the car at the moment (the interior is away being trimmed in cream leather ).

Don't panic! That is the fine adjustment for the distributer advance/retard, has the same effect as loosening the clamp and swinging the dizzy round. You aren't likely to have got it very far out by twiddling abit, as long as you didn't go mad with it!
