As an update, Jones have just finished the prototype set of springs, should be despatched early next week!
No exact pricing yet, but looking towards £120 each at the moment. This is for the 2 leaf traveller (175 lbs/inch) type, the single leaf (125 lbs/inch) variety may well be cheaper by the cost of a leaf!
I will keep you informed of progress, but bear in mind this is experimental at the moment, so please don't go asking Jones for a set until it is known how they fit and work.
Assuming everything goes well maybe we could somehow negotiate for a small batch, maybe through the club. To that end a gauge of serious interest would be useful, remembering that this will require some modification work to spring shackles,axle mounts and the fitment of telescopic dampers. But early days yet!

Why tele dampers ?? But well done getting these springs organised - let's see some pictures of them - off and on the car!

Come on, you know the answer! Tele dampers to "replace" the inbuilt friction damping effect of multiple rusty leaves grinding against each other!

I would be interested in saloon ones If fitting & operation on your trial is a success

Seriously, I'm actually getting quite excited/ worried about all this! What if axle tramp increases due to the extra flexing capabilities? But other manufacturers seem to have got away with it without fitting anti-tramp bars (cold sweat suddenly subsides!)

Parabolic springs have neen available for MGBs for some while, but they do have a reputation for flattening out after about 12 months.

I wonder if these are made by the same manufacturer, if not I might be looking for a set for the B.

No, the MGB ones are imported! Jones are very helpful on all aspects of spring choice, practicality etc, and admit that they would not be able to match the price of the current MGB ones, but would be happy to quote for a bespoke set, having comprehensive spring data on file for road vehicles.
At the end of the day, it is the cheapest product that most people want, especially if the more expensive version would not look any different!
Land Rovers have been converted to parabolics with great success for years, and I imagine they tend to get a far more rigourous cycling than the small road imperfections encountered by an MG!
Time will tell.....

Lever arm dampers will be fine! After all - they are just tele dampers sort of 'folded up' - and they have the great advantage of adjustability, either by swapping/fiddling with the valves - or by simply changing the viscosity of the damping oil!

Come to think of it- the standard springs work fine- think I'll cancel the order for the parabolics and get back to fitting the steam conversion.....

Why not do it? I've just been watching a clip of Ken Fox riding a steam bike around his wall of death, so getting a Moggy in steam should be a doddle!
