Past Memories

This afternoon I was travelling along the Bridgenorth Road towards Wolverhampton and I came up behind a snowberry white Morris Minor Traveller. Back in October 1970 we bought a brand new snowberry white Morris Minor Traveller registration no VVP 403 J. Guess what, the moggie I came up to this afternoon was VVP 404 J. How close can you get!
I thought that maybe the owner lived close to Wolverhampton and if a member of the Moggie Owners Club he or she might like to get in touch with me to have a chat about our experiences with cars that entered the world very close together.
Also, if VVP 403 J still exists then contact with the present owner would be wonderful.
Email robert.quarmby@tiscali.co.uk or telephone 01922 412564.
Thanks Bob

Well 403J was still on the road until 2007.

The enquiry is complete
The vehicle details for VVP 403J are:

Date of Liability 01 09 2007
Date of First Registration 14 10 1970
Year of Manufacture 1970
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1098CC
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status Unlicensed
Vehicle Colour BLACK

It doesn't say it is SORN though, but the chances are it may still be around.

Dean. Many thanks for the info on 403J and I am intrigued to know how you came to find this out. Also, from your source, is there any link to the 2007 owner and the address. I would love to make contact to find out if the car has been sold on to someone else or if it still exists.
Cheers Bob

You 'may' be able to get the info from DVLA - IF you have good cause - and pay a fee. This is how the Parking Bandits get your details - to send you a 'fine'!

Yes I know info is available from the DVLA for a fee but I don't think Dean has paid out for the info he provided.

The info I got is free for everyone to see:

No driver details though, DVLA may give them out for a £2.50 fee from I think a V888 form. But, there must be a genuine reason for the request. I've never known anyone try.... perhaps the MMOC club have details?

The V888 service cost £5.00 from the DVLA - I got back all previous registered keepers names and addresses for my cars along with details and dates of change of registration - I even know who owns the original reg no's off my cars

Thanks Dean. I managed to get details from the DVLA of all the previous owners of my current moggie and the cost was £5.

Interestingly the V888 notes say:

Section 2 – Your details
Give all the details asked for.
If you are asking about a vehicle previously registered
in your name, and your name and/or address have
changed since you were the registered keeper, please
give the previous details below.

Therefore if you remember your address at the time of ownership I think you automatically qualify to ask for the current owners details. It's important though you are honest with your reason as you could be breaking the freedom of information act if not. Good luck and let us know how you get on.
