what are these holes for?

Hi,lifted up carpet on the passenger side front and found two holes,one round and one square,how are they secured ,and with what ,are they rubber bungs or a piece of metal,[frame]Image[/frame],cheers,Brian

I had them on my old car (1954 series II) a previous owner stuck rubber bungs in them I think.

well make that two without as my 'new' car (1967 model) has not got them. Maybe they stopped putting these extra holes in after a certain date? :-?

Those holes are for the LHD dipper switch and clutch pedal. An unused dipper switch hole is covered with a medal plate with a seal under it. (very common on LHD cars) The clutch hole probably was sealed with one of those impregnanted patches that are on the chassis legs.
