Mystery Object

Hello all,

I was fitting a new anti-sizzle kit to my 1960 saloon and came across a strange object beneath the carpet on the top of the transmission tunnel....

It's a bright metal tube, about an inch long and a little under 1/2 inch thick; the wall of said tube is around 1/8 and the hole through the middle a bit under 1/4" There was also a flat washer too.

Can anyone recognise it from the position it was found in and my stunningly accurate description?

Regards

Dave

A picture is worth a thousand words.
If the tube and washer are joined it sounds like one of the bits that hold the leg shields on a Honda Cub.

Could it be a very corroded (in the centre) 1/4 inch drive socket, perhaps with the 1/4 inch square drive hole rounded off??
