Totally off the wall question here. I have a spare set of seats from the traveller and I had the idea of making them into functional domestic seating for everyday home and garden use, and I was wondering if anyone had ever made or has any idea of how to make a frame to support them ? Basically I want to use the front seats as sort of kitchen table chairs type of thing and use the rears as a sort of sofa (a bit like what they did on Top Gear). Any suggestions or should I just buy two old chairs and chop the top off and mount the front seats that way.

Strange questions I know, but just though i'd throw it out there.

What are you good at, carpentry or welding?
Somehow you need to bring the seat up to a comfortable height for the intended use, and make it strong, secure and as good looking as you can manage.

I have a couple of vauxhall recaros here. I used a chair base from ikea. They do a modular thing where you pick the bit you sit on and then pick the bit below. One of the options is a screw height adjustable swivel base on wheels which is what I used. It comes with a convienent plate on the top which I just welded to the seat frame.
