Which oil to use ??.
My first oil change coming up.1098cc,1970 saloon.I drive approx 1000 miles per year, mainly in town.Question is,do i use a relatively cheap supermarket oil,or stick to a more expensive oil, such as Duckhams, etc.???

Provided it's 20w/50, whatever your budget stretches too. I use Duckhams or Castrol, but only because I can afford it. Is it actually any better than the cheaper supermarket stuff... who knows. These engines have been running for years and have probably been through all sorts of abuse at some point..... and they are still going strong, so the decision is yours. Just remember to do the oil filter too.

Hi,
I do about 15000miles a year, and tend to stick to comma premium 20/50 (about 7.50 a gallon - green can). Note this isn't the cheap comma motorway oil.
I use to use Duckhams but found it broke down very quickly (2-3000miles).
Castrol 20/50 oil is good too.
As for supermarket oil, can't really comment in a moggy. As you don't do many miles I guess it doesn't matter
whether you spend 5 or 15 pound.
The secret is keeping to a strict servicing regime to keep the engine in tip top condition.

ASDA 20W50 oil is fine - have used it for years on all sorts of engines - even 90 bhp Mini engine. Just don't expect it to last 'for ever'. It's easily as good as 'Comma' oil!!!!!!

at 1000 miles a year changing it once a year will be fine doing it twice a year you will be throwing your money away
