Anyone know how difficult it would be to change a clutch from hydraulic back to original?

Should not be a problem, you just need all the mechanical parts that were thrown out when it was converted! What sort of clutch is it?

I have no idea but it takes some effort to press the clitch pedal

Is It an 803/948, 1098 or 1275 diaphram clutch? A peep through the hole in the bell housing would identify it.

If it is a 1275 diaphram clutch then you can fit 1098 clutch forks and release bearing and weld 1 inch onto the lever on the relay shaft that connects to the pedal linkage and re drill the hole. This will restore normal pedal travel and load.
