Gladys, 1962, 4 door 948 cc, is in need of her brakes bleeding-to cure spongy pedal.

I've read the helpful technical articles on bleeding the brakes, but cannot find reference to where the bleed nipples actually are.

Please could you help me locate where each one is, back and front?

Best wishes

there are 2 brake cylinders on the front each side and one will have a bleed nipple
the one on the back are on a banjo connected to the rear brake cylinder, one each side
start at the back nearside then offside and then teh front ending with the front offside

I would be wondering what has caused it to become spongy - normally air can't get into the system, so once it's been successfully bled the pedal will stay solid until the system develops a fault. Has the level of brake fluid in the master cylinder been dropping? Check the three flexible hoses don't expand when an assistant presses hard on the pedal. You could also remove the metal plate that covers the master cylinder and check for fluid leaking out of it.

Alex is right, the brakes wont go soft all on their own.

Another good thing to check for is to remove the brake drums and check for any leakage from the cylinders.
