Electric Problems

Out for a ride today and the left indicator was playing up, homemade converted brake lights and front light flashing at the correct rate but the bulb was only briefly lit. Anyway by time I got back home left turn indicator not working at all!
Swapping the flasher units left to right confirmed the fasher was defective, so I popped round our local autoparts shop and bought two units (I thought I would change the pair of them) fitted them tonight to find one doesn't work! Well happy. They look quite poorly constructed and even worse inside (Chinese?)
Going back in the morning for hopefully some better ones or my cash back.
While I am investigating the flasher problem I find that I have to push pretty hard on the brake pedal to get the brake lights on, far harder than I would ever do on the road - the brake switch has packed up - it's only 58 years old but they don't make them like they used to!
Got a replacement coming from ESM, have they got a good history for replacement switches? although I guess they all originate from the same place!
