wipers hitting the bonnet

not sure if this should be in the electrical section or in bodywork so please feel free to move it..

The car is a 1957 convertible and when the wipers are parked at the base of the screen when I open the bonnet they scrape along the trailing edge of the bonnet. The bonnet gap looks fine all around.. could someone have fitted wheel boxes or arms from a later car at some stage and this cause the problems?

The scuttle part of the hinge may be too far rearward. You can push that part of the hinge forward then the bonnet part of the hinge backwards to maintain the gap (if that makes any sense) ??

I expect you have some modern replacement wiper arms - the originals gave better clearance to the bonnet.
