Hi, welcome to the messageboard! :D

As insurance is so individual and based on a number of variables such as age, driving history, location etc it's really best to just get a few quotes and see which policy is best for you. There are quite a few companies that offer classic car insurance but cheapest isn't always best - check what the policy actually offers eg agreed value, limited mileage, roadside assistance etc. If you are a member of the MMOC try getting a quote from Footman James as they offer an discounted service to club members and cover young drivers from 17 years upwards.

Does the club discount apply to other cars? My MG is up for renewal.

The club discount also applies to home, motorbike and 'modern' car insurance policies (not just Minor insurance) so I don't see why it wouldn't apply to an MG. Give FJ a call to confirm.
