found something on the floor ..
hi there,
i found a bit of rubber that looks egg shaped, but a bit thinner at the end of the side, and on the other side, a flat edge, and looked rusty on that side of the rubber. is it off my morris or is it just some rubbish i have found on the tarmac?
lol.

Re: found something on the floor ..
damn it's that. how did that fall off? will i need that for the car to be roadsafe/mot? can i get that back on? the holes on either side are not there on the one i found. does it stop the car from crashing into the body when going over a bump?

Re: found something on the floor ..
What usually happens is that the rubber stop comes away from the metal backing plate. If you look on your car the plate will still be attached - it happens with age. I dont know of anyway of fixing it, you'll have to buy a new bump stop.

Suppose it's worth a try, you got nothing to loose

Re: found something on the floor ..
stuck mine back on 10 years ago with a product called sycoflex, sikoflex not sure of the spelling, also did an engine mounting at same time still on,available from brown bros autofactor.
Re: found something on the floor ..
Whatever you choose to do - you absolutely MUST have bump stops both front and rear, and rebound stops at the front.

If you have as many road humps in your area as I have then bump stop rubbers are essential.
If you buy a new one remember that they are handed.

metal hits metal not very good, apart from the nice clunk they makexpress wrote:why, what happens without them?

Re: found something on the floor ..
It will permit the suspension to overtravel with possible damage to dampers and/or springs. And it will smash the inner wings on the front suspension - not a great idea.
