float chamber overflowing
I got the '61 running again today after about 6months untouched, the engine started fine and everything ran well except the float chamber overflowed and just kept pourind petrol all over the engine bay. I replaced the float with one from another car and it all worked fine. Can the old float be fixed/adjusted? or do i just need a new one?

Re: float chamber overflowing
Check the needle valve for dirt.
The float level can be altered by adjusting the forks with a 5/16in bar between the forks and the lid on a brass float chamber carb and a 1/8in bar between the float and the lid on a plastic float carb. With the forks and float adjusted the valve should be fully closed when the float camber is full of petrol

It won't need adjusting unless you've had it apart and messed it about. Usually it is just sticky after not been used for a while so a dose of WD40 and a blow out with an airline will fix the problem...
