Gearbox probs

The box on my Series II is starting to give some probs - hard to get into 1st and 2nd from neutral when sitting at lights. This is the 803cc box, long throw gearstick. Changing down from 3rd to 2nd is no problem with car rolling slowly, and even getting into 1st from 2nd when car rolling gently towards a stop is OK. It is only after slipping into neutral and sitting at lights it is hard to get into 1st and 2nd. Clutch not the problem as no crashing or probs changing when car in motion, either up or down.

Could this be wear in the selector forks, or maybe wrongly adjusted? If so how is it fixed?

Try adjusting the clutch rod so that you have less free play at the top of the pedal travel

Check the oil level as a first step. But I agree it is likely to be clutch adjustment.

Oil is fine. Clutch adjusted correctly and, as I say, no probs in normal driving

Better with 10W40 which has less 'drag'.
