will a 74 degree thermostat help in getting rid of mayo in the rocker cover
or what can be done

No, you want to go to higher temp so 88 or even 92. But most important will be good breathing, so would be better to fit a later carb with the brass suction tube on the side. That is much more effective in drawing away fumes/moisture from the rocker cover.

Long fast runs not short urban trips will help prevent mayo.

have an 88 i there all ready, but dont have the later carb, so there is one thing
all pipes are clear abd i do a regular 25 mile trip to work, not in town on open troads
