LCV/ pick chassis number

Hi - i have aqcuired a part restored 68 pick up. the v5 shows a chassis no MAU5 241456 but this does not seem to tie in with the series for general minor prodcution in parts catalogues. looking at some previous posts am i right to assume commercials had a different numbering series?

the id plate on the paasenger door card has this number too (except the number is stamped in the engine no space for some reason. the plate does look to be in keeping with the vehicle age btw).

the engine number is not shown on the log book, but presumably engine changes were/are common. (it is 10MAUL 312429)

i had a rummage around in the accompanying boxes and found a metal piece with Z35127-34 stamped, but that seems even less related to Morris ref's than the detailed chassis number.

Any thoughts?

LCV's had there own numbering system which did not follow on from saloon models. My chassis number "in sequence" would fit in with a 1952 saloon but it is actually a 1960 chassis. The "Z" number is the body number which would originally have also been on a plate on the end of the tie bar and a small plate on the bulkhead above the fuel pump....

Hi there nice buy, the MAU5 translates to Morris A-series Utility series 5 and the 6 nos are the serial no, do that minus 501 and you'll get the production no :)

the Z no is the body no, very important!!! don't lose any of these nos at least very improtant over here, my van nearly failed it's MOT over here cause I had an extra '1' in the chassis no!! but obviously Russel came to the rescue!!
