Hi folks,
currently fitting a new Fiat engine in my car, but it would seem the timing cover on my new engine doesnt fit the old one. On inspection it would seem that the distance between aux shaft centre nut and cam wheels is shorter on thr new engine than the old one.
My assumption is that i have been sold a 1600 rather than the 2000 i was told it is.
Does anyone know what the engine numbers should be for 1600, 1800 and 2000 engines? Its not a
huge problem that its a smaller engine, just a bit annoying. Especially
as i have just cut out the bulkhead to accept the webers, and now that will neex redoing as the head is slightly lower. Pain.

What's the engine number of your engine?

I think the 131 and 132 engine numbers are:

132A1000 = 1800
132B1000 = 1800
132C2000 = 2000
132D1000 = 2000

131B1000 = 1600
131B2000 = 2000
131C4000 = 2000

It is 132CB1, any ideas?
Old engine is 132 DB 2A 0

Any ideas anyone? Only, i think i may need to buy a new cam belt if it's different. Which seems likely.

and if the B in 132CB1 is actually an 8 i.e. 132C81 you get a match about half way down the list.. trouble is it gives three different displacements for you.. might be worth reading the rest of what he has written in case that helps you identify it

Which numbers did you give? The numbers I listed relate to the ones stamped near the L/H engine mount, I think the ones you gave are the cast numbers near the top of the block?

cHeers for the link, the head number is the same as the one that relates to 1600, 1800 and 2000.
Martin, there is no number on either engine near the engine mounts. The numbers given are the only ones on the blocks. Stupid Fiat!!

Are you sure, all the fiat blocks I have had have had the stamped numbers, takes a bit of abraisive paper to clean it off enough to show the numbers though.

It is normally just above the L/H front upper engine mount stud.
