Easter Wekend - Planned jobs on the Morris

With a long weekend I thought it was time to get the Morris back in my garage and sort out some of those jobs I've been meaning to do. So far this weekend I've,
Removed carpet and access panel to gearbox.
Exchanged Clutch pedal and linkage.
Removed all seats
Removed side trim/ rear arm rest in the trav.
Removed B-pillar trim
Welded in Seat belt mounts
Refit seats, carpet, B-pillar trims.
Machine 2mm off the drivers upper door hinge.(move door forward)
Refit drives door several times to get the gaps right and close perfectly.
Underseal front wheel arches.
Tape wiring harness in front wheel arches.
Replace tie rod bushes
Replace upper trunion bushes.
adjust wheel bearing
reset tracking.
Tomorrow I'm planning on changing the gaskets on the tappet covers and drilling a hole in the B-pillar wood for the seat belt pivot to come through. I was hoping to have it all done today so I could take it to the Goodwood breakfast club but I spent too much time on other things,,, buying easter eggs, watching boat race etc..

Nice car. OEW Travellers do look nice...... And you have done well so far. Boat race was good too, well done Cambridge!

My, what a list! The car looks good in the picture. You say you put it in the garage to do the jobs, does it normally stay outside then? Of course, if you've achieved all that by Saturday evening, you will have had your 'nose to the grindstone' for a couple of days... Do you have some clever gizmo to set-up the tracking or do you do it by the 'roll and measure' method with not much more than spanners and a measuring stick/yard long ruler/steel tape?
I wondered if there was a Morris related event not too far away this weekend but so far nothing found..

Seat belts finished
I re-sealed the tappet covers but still have an oil leak and I'm affraid it's coming from the head gasket. I've tightened the head bolts and they were quite loose - 40Nm ish. But I can still see the oil coming out the front corner
So Tuesday I'll be off to the local autofactors for a HG. Does anyone know the valve clearances for a 950cc?

Tracking was done with Dunlop Gauges (Still the best method)

Doubt the oil leak is from the head gasket. Head nuts should be tightened to 45 ft lbf. What on earth is '40 Nm ish' ??????

they can leak from the front of the head gasket if the old one was reused, which does happen

It's deffo from the head gasket, The engine is spotlessly clean and you can see the oil coming out below the head. Wipe it away and it comes back within 30Secs.
40Nm ish is about 30Ft Lbs. It's always hard to tell how tight something is when the toqure wrench is set about that point.
Should be done by Tuesday lunchtime.

Could be, When my dad brought the car the garage fitted an unleaded head to seal the deal. Maybe....

That seat belt installation, the beautiful red leather/leatherette and carpet is fabulous. Whereever does one find red seat belts! Excellent welcome addition compared to black ones which would say 'regulations'...!
I'm not aware of the Dunlop kit so I've learned something about tracking. Seeing as last time the Pug was tracked was at the surprise insistence of the dealer at an MOT and Svc and added about £25. They noticed something in the tyre wear - it was so so slight, but saved the tyres from continuing in that way. It is a decent dealer, small chain, about 5 places they have.
Well done on your weekend activities.. good luck with the oil leak. I hates those. The nearest I spend working on BMC engines is the 1.5/1.8 diesel B units that are marinised. They are just so reliable. I wonder if the B block can be squeezed into a Minor!
