Help identifying paint colour

A mate of mine has a 1966 traveller which he brought back from the UK last year. The previous owner told him the colour is smoke grey. He carried out some repair work on the bottom of the doors and found that the smoke grey spray he purchased is very much darker. Can anybody help identifying the colour? Could it be a non standard colour?[frame]Image[/frame]

Regards

There is a colour chart at the top of the bodywork section.

It certainly looks like smoke grey, it could have faded very badly or if resprayed could to been mixed to a near match.

I believe that there were 2 shades of Smoke Grey. We had another member about a year ago who had the same problem (robhardy1 I think) - but I can't find the reference. Alternatively if it was re-sprayed in 2Pack the colours do come out slightly different to celly paint.

Apparently there are two shades of Smoke Grey, with paint code BU15 and BU15A. The BU15A paint is darker than the BU15. The only way to get an exact match to the car will be to take a chip (or the glove box door) to a company that can mix the paint to match.

Thanks Louise, thanks Regaliaqueen, Now it begins to make sense. I wasn't aware there were two different shades of smoke grey. I also recommended taking off a glovebox door and having the paint scanned. I'll pass the information on. Thanks once again.
