Are these completion of manufacture dates or dates first registered? I’m afraid my Traveller was built at Adderley Park and the Leyland records have been lost. It has a steering lock, so I know it’s one of the last from the Spring of 1971. It was registered in September 1971 (I have the bill of sale) to a lady who owned it for twenty years.
I know the MG Midget is 19 – 20th February 1979 and the BGT V8 was May 1974 (Both were registered in the August of each year).

The build date would be more accurate - this is available from the British Motor Heritage Trust through a build certificate.
Phyllis was born on the 27th February 1962.
According to the DVLA, she was first registered sometime in the 1980's. Clearly wrong, but I think she was laid up for a while and re-registered around then.

My Traveller was first registered on 22nd Feb 1968. When I'm in the garage working on it I listen to music made in 1968 to get myself in the right frame of mind for working on it. I even found a song which was released on that exact date! (Genesis - The Silent Sun)

How many of us are older or younger than our Minors

? Well when my Traveller was built in 1971, I was in my second year at infants school!!
Funnilly enough, at about the same time as it was registered, my father bought his first foreign car, a VW Type 3 Variant, which cost a couple of hundred more than my Traveller. If I'm honest, the VW probably was, OTBE, more durable than the Minor but I doubt it is still around. I don't know what its number was after it was sold (My father had his own number), so I can't check it. The spares back up for the Minor and the fact that the VW was a bit of a pig to work on will have swung the pendulum the Minor's way.

My daily minor (1963 2-door) is 28 years older than me

. When I bought my 1961 minor I was 15, the car was exactly 3 times my age!

I'm younger than mine, but I'm tempted to get a 1955 model as it was a very good year

You're the same age as me then! I started infant school in 1969 when my Minor was about a year and a half old. But I was nearly 4 when it was built.
