Morris Minor Owners Club

Hello all ..

I am picking my moggie up tonight (I am SOOO excited!), but having spent a little (yeah right!) while on these boards, I am wondering if I have taken too much on. She has a '65 plate and looks ok to me, but have I just committed myself to an age of hard work and money? I know nothing about mechanics, (thats why I pay a man to do it for me ) and am really worried now

please put my mind at rest . . .. .

Hi and Welcome to the wonderful world of Morris Minors.
I like you, have little or no machanical skills but I am a keen learner. You can get a heap load of info here on the forum. Once you get behind the wheel of your morris you will be in a different world.

As Stevie Wonder said "Don't you worry bout a thing" enjoy getting your new car, this forum is the best place for advice and as long as you arm yourself with some good manuals and get as much information there is, there is definitely nothing to worry about.
Do you intend to work on the car yourself or do you have somebody to do the work for you? either way they are a simple car to work on and good sound advice is plenty on here.

Like you i picked up my first moggy last year, knowing nothing about mechanics at all, and what I can't do I let the specialists take over.

Enjoy Enjoy they are great fun. Join a local branch of the club and you will find that people who have owned these cars for years are only to willing to help out.

Let us have some pictures when you get her or him.

Weimylady welcome to this forum. If you post your location we can point you in the right direction of a local branch with members who will be able to offer you advice/support. Once you have your car don't forget to post some pictures. There's always someone here as we have members worldwide, so if you have any more questions please ask away!

As long as he had a valid driving licence

Get the car bodywork checked over, particularly the brakes and suspension and carry your RAC recovery card!

Apparently, he holds a full driving licence and a pilot's licence.
The next time you're on a plane, if the pilot starts singing "Isn't she lovely" over the tannoy, start panicing!

Welding aside [remember she is older than she cares to remember (the Minor that is)] parts are relatively cheap and everything is fixable be it by the less than competent home mechanic or by your local garage and at a much lower labour rate that manufacturer's main dealers. Advice is free so dont be afraid to ask. Someone always knows the answer.

yep if it breaks its usually straight forward, and when it arrives... well just try and say no to the wee chap.

Don't get too worried - folks tend to only come on here when they have problems that need fixing. Of course - some seem to keep coming back again and again and again........... I'm sure your car will be fine!

You'll be fine. I had the same thoughts ... currently trying to fix 2 minor problems ... the more little tinkering you do the less worried you get!!!
